SARTAQ KHAN BETA .056 PATCH

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?znzucw4ncwo
or

This is a ips patch not a rom image!

Hot off my computer and tested to work with "Super Aoki Ookami to Shiroki Meshika - Genchou Hishi (J).SMC" filed dated 7/25/97

It should work with other dated versions of the same rom.

I recommend experienced GK2 players only as this is far from complete and new players will be lost.

The Next Step? PSX - Aoki Ookami beta

After tinkering with the Mega CD version for a few hours it got me thinking about releasing a patch of Super Aoki Ookami Beta (aka Sartaq Khan Beta .056) in a IPS patch. Which is something I've never done before. I am sure I can find something on Romhacking.net that will aid me. But the patch is already crusty. You'd have to fatten your rom with a tool first I'd think. Because uh... that was the first thing I did. Thinking I'd be able to insert fresh material after consulting a few dozen tutorials... and that didn't happen.

After that I decided to to poke around the PSX Aoki Ookami.iso just for kicks. I've seen and played a few playstation translations and hacks recently and it seems like a doable concept. After all my true goal was translating a perfect version or making a chasis for a perfect Ghenghis Khan 2 game. Where nothing is cut and you can be what ever country you want to be. Possibly adding a scenario would be a pipe dream. Actually, this wouldn't be so hard at all hex editing one scenario to make another. It would just be tedious to plot it out and enter all the values( on a SNES or Genesis ROM).

SO SCREW TRANSLATING SUPER AOKI OOKAMI WHEN I CAN TRANSLATE THE SUPERIOR PLAYSTATION VERSION AMIRITE?

Is it possible for me to do what I did to the Super Aoki Ookami rom onto the PSX.ISO?

Lets see shall we...

(PSX Version still has MEGA CD stuff in it. Without a doubt its a direct port!)

After cracking open the iso with 7zip I found a number of files. I proceded to scroll about in a hex editer until I found something familar

psx to aoki

Same values. Same system. If you able figure out the whole rom for Aoki Ookami you'd be right at home here. Seeing how I've done most of the work involving who is who and what means what wife, general, ruler wise in the Super Aoki Ookami rom I am at home with SMAIN.PRG's people values.

If anyone out there is a wizard with hex editing and interested in playstation game hacking I believe we can help each out!

Maybe later in the week I'll try and see if I can put the iso back together correctly and get some screenshots up.

MEGA CD Aoki Ookami to Shiroki Meshika - Genchou Hishi part 2

I'll assume that the victory picture in the harem sub game is the same as the PSX version. I am using a emulator on my Xbox(1) as my Sega CD is in three pieces and not a Mega CD.

The screen has a unique border to it. Different pattern and color.

The Harem sub game portion freezes my emulator. : \

Hphags Pa has a new portrait.

So does Cin-Kim. Its the same as the PSX version.

The Battle screen is 100% what your used to on the consoles none of that PC combat( which I prefer).

The intro is different in a majority of the different version. The first image has a chunk of the original content in before the usual SNES/Genesis intro. Along with I'd wager a different ending movie/screens.

MEGA CD Aoki Ookami to Shiroki Meshika - Genchou Hishi part 1

I found myself playing some Chenji Sihan 2 again. This time it was a some whatnew experience the only version I've yet to play( at least to my knowledge). Mega CD's Aoki Ookami. That is the Japanese version of Sega CD and Ghenghis Khan 2. I was greeted by Borte telling me in something about were I am going to store the save or whatnot.

After answering yes I skipped the intro and found something very different from what I was expecting.

We have new game as the first option, Continue as the second, the third is a glossary of all the characters, wives, and talent within the game exactly the game as the PSX version, and lastly we have a sound test screen as seen below.

I now believe the PSX version of Aoki Ookami is just a port of this with somewhat updated graphics.

The new game screen leads us to five scenarios. Nothing to unlock in the beginning( unless there is something hidden in here which I doubt due to the file size).

Next post I'll explore the battle system and harem game and see if it differs from the PSX version or the PC version.

Answering some questions

Its been nearly a year since I've worked on this. But all is not lost. I still have what I worked on. So the-evil-psycho need not fear of never getting a proper GK3. Its just getting our hands on a English version of GK4 or KOEI working on GK5.

Gibran wrote "Great work! Better keep it up because if you don't I will be very heartbroken.

Just wondering about one thing though. Do you remember the DOS version of Genghis Khan II? The battle sprites were a lot different than those in the console versions. Just wondering if a Japanese version of the dos version exists which still has the harem game intact."

Yes the Japanese PC version does have the harem game intact. The console version on the harem game and pc version are different in the presentation. Examples can be found in older posts.

Alistar wrote "I've messed with the scene for a little bit, so I do know a little bit to get me by or started and I think I would have a blast to mess with this."

Anyone who wishes to help would actually have to know what they are doing from this point. I appreciate the offer though. Although maybe fleshing out all the hex edits possible might be interesting.

Echofoxtrot wrote "Do you know of a way to change the rom to enable people to play the other leaders/empires in the game??"

I can make a hex edit so that the rulers are different but I can not add lines into the rom without the rom failing to load. Which is the problem now. Making every ruler and empire selectable( which would be awesome) is not possible without being able to do this.

Still burned out

If your interested in the Genghis Khan series please do read all the blog posts here.
If your interested in my translation you'd be one of three people. ;~;
I apologize for not being skilled enough to complete the project myself. I have no background and no one looking over my shoulder giving me tips. Everything I've done so far is done through trial and error. I've read the FAQs at are on the internet and they have very little info as far as my current problems within this rom.
